Booties for Zuzu

There's nothing cuter than baby booties!
Except for maybe...

Chubby baby feet in 'em!

(Thanks, Yaya!)

Through the eyes of a 4 year old

Every once in a while, I let Booboo use my camera. Sometimes she takes 8 million shots of Taggie, but sometimes, her sense of composition is surprising.

Do you ever hand the camera off to the kiddos? Are they interested? How does their perspective and viewpoint change things? Isn't it nice with digital we can just let them run with it, every once in a while, without having to pay to develop 20 pictures of The Blanket?? Do you think they have a different understanding of the value of images, because they are so easily procured? I think about that every time I take Booboo's picture, there's a "let me see, let me see!" kind of attitude. Back in my day, only Polaroids could give you that instant satisfaction. Ah, the beauty of a Polaroid! (Ok, I'm dating myself!)

Project Runway

We've been obsessed with Project Runway around here for years, (i was really rooting for Fabio--i think they made the safe choice.) and it seemed a harmless new show to introduce Booboo to, in spite of some of the catty infighting, since she is getting into sewing. In her Booboo way, she took it to the next level, and soon Taggie (The Blanket) and friends were making their way down the catwalk, asplendent in silks and other scraps. Lilly won, much to Tag's chagrin!

Taggie (not to be outdone) struts the catwalk.

(Excuse the foot--I haven't figured out how to edit photos for this program yet!)

Would it be harder to design for a creature without any arms and legs (i.e. Taggie) or 8 arms (Octavia)?? You decide.

Lake Chelan

Our extended family decided to spend a long weekend at Lake Chelan, at this resort, across the mountains, where the chance of it being sunny and hot are much better than the wet and soggy west. It was the perfect combo of pool, freezing (!) clear lake water, borrowed kayaks or canoes, and just generally taking it easy. We met every night for a fabulous dinner with wine and way too many cards. (Or the other way around, depending on your perspective!)

Last night festivites.

I have to say, one of The benefits of returning to the Northwest has been getting to know my cousins again. In the 12 years that I was living on the east coast, they grew up! And became lovely people! (Well, of course!). Reestablishing those relationships has been great fun and I'm happy to have them in my circle.

There was a time when all these folks were so far away, Booboo hardly knew we had extended family. I'm so happy that she now know her cousin S, her Uncle Uncle D, and as my brother wisely pointed out, perhaps it took being far away to really appreciate the value of family. And you know, for once (!), he's probably right. Now I tell Booboo we're family rich, and she believes me.
